SEBI announced a proposed overhaul of the consolidated account statement, citing a 150‑million unique investor base and a 14‑15% CAGR that could push the pool to 24‑26 crore in a decade.
Pandey said a SEBI working group is examining proposals to improve the CAS framework and will issue a consultation paper shortly.
The regulator has written to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India chairman, seeking to include insurance information in the consolidated statement. Following an RBI announcement, depositories CDSL and NSDL will gain access to bank deposit data on a consent basis, said Pandey.
The number of unique investors has quadrupled to 150 million, with 6.6 crore mutual‑fund investors today, and the investor base could reach 24‑26 crore in ten years, Pandey noted. The awareness campaign sent nearly 44 crore messages over nine days in 13 languages, and plans to broaden its reach.
Pandey said the consultation paper will be released within a week, and SEBI is in talks with the National Payments Corporation of India on merchant‑discount‑rate issues, aiming to streamline investment data and enhance investor protection.
