On Oct 10 2026, the Miley Cyrus Foundation announced a $1 million contribution to the Downtown Women’s Center’s new Rosa’s Place project, which will add 97 permanent apartments for women and survivors of violence in Los Angeles.
The Downtown Women’s Center, founded in 1975, has long serviced the city’s most vulnerable women, offering shelter, counseling and job training. The gala that hosted the pledge drew nearly 600 attendees, including community leaders, corporate partners and activists, and raised a record $3.2 million for the organization.
Rosa’s Place will not only house residents; the complex will feature a dedicated service hub where workers can provide trauma‑informed counseling, legal aid and employment support. The design team is collaborating with former residents to ensure the spaces promote healing and safety.
Miley and her mother, Tish Cyrus‑Purcell, visited the campus during the event, meeting residents and offering input on interior décor. "The strength, resilience and hope of the women stay with me long after I leave," Miley said, echoing Tish’s view that a safe home can transform how people feel.
Construction is slated to begin in early 2027, with the first residents expected to move in by late 2028. The Downtown Women’s Center will keep the project in the public eye as it seeks additional funding for the service hub and community outreach programs.
