Satish Salian, father of late celebrity manager Disha Salian, walked into Uddhav Thackeray’s Matoshri residence on Saturday, handing a Rs 500 crore legal notice to his son Aaditya Thackeray, accusing him of slander over his daughter's death. The notice was accepted by Aaditya’s lawyer, a Shiv Sena (UBT) functionary confirmed, and the case is now poised to move into court.
The dispute follows the CBI’s recent FIR in the 2020 death of Disha Salian, with police previously labeling the incident accidental before a Bombay High Court order triggered a central probe. The CBI has taken over the investigation, citing police failure to register an FIR for six years.
Senior Sena leader Sanjay Raut accused external puppets and the BJP’s Narayan Rane circle of mudslinging the Thackeray family, calling the campaign a character assassination. Raut also claimed that Satish Salian was being controlled by outside forces.
Uddhav Thackeray warned that legal action would follow if the campaign does not cease, adding a tense note to the political feud. The next step will likely involve court filings and a potential hearing on the validity of the defamation claim.
