The event, renamed from a 'Mock Parliament', is scheduled for Friday from 3 pm to 7:30 pm in the home of Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. The INDIA Alliance will bring a motion for impeachment before a panel led by former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar, with a Samajwadi Party MP assisting.
Mallikarjun Kharge will open the session, and Rahul Gandhi will close it, each delivering a 5‑minute address. Speakers from 19 parties will have 5 minutes each, while the Samajwadi Party and Trinamool Congress receive 10 minutes apiece. A small contingent of civil society members will also speak.
The motion targets the removal of names from electoral rolls, a process that has allegedly affected 13.5 crore voters, though Congress claims the figure now stands at 16.5 crore. The alliance argues that the chief commissioner's handling of the rolls has undermined electoral integrity.
The proceedings will be streamed live on the alliance’s YouTube channels and other social media outlets. After the motion, the national anthem, 'Jana Gana Mana', will be sung to close the session. If the motion passes, the matter will be referred to the appropriate judicial forum for further action against the commissioner.
