Additional Sessions Judge Renuka Singh Hudda, sitting in Jaipur, denied Nitin Naresh's request for anticipatory bail on 28 October 2026. The court cited the seriousness of the extortion, intimidation and conspiracy charges that stem from a complaint filed by Terra Invest’s UAE‑based platform, led by Ankiti Bose and Krishan Rattan.
Naresh, publisher and editor of the online outlet Inventiva, had argued that the allegations were fabricated and that he had already been cooperating with investigators. His counsel insisted that pre‑arrest protection was unnecessary and urged the court to grant bail, but the judge turned down the plea.
The Jaipur ruling also acknowledged parallel proceedings before the Delhi High Court involving Bose, Rattan and Naresh, where earlier orders had restricted certain publications. Those judgments, the court noted, frame the broader legal battle over alleged threats and defamatory content.
Authorities have not yet named additional suspects, though observers say the complaint may be linked to former associates of the Terra Invest founders. Any further evidence will determine whether the alleged conspiracy extends beyond Naresh.
Police are still gathering evidence, and the court has ordered the case to proceed to the next stage of investigation. An arrest, if warranted, could follow once the investigation completes its review of the extortion and intimidation claims.
