Ranjeetji Chaturji Thakor, a 31‑year‑old credit manager at Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company, lived in Wagharol village, Sidhpur taluka. He had been in a two‑year relationship with the daughter of Jagaji Ranchhodji Thakor, a resident of Thangana village. The couple’s affair had drawn the ire of the woman’s family.
On Tuesday, Ranjeetji rode his motorcycle to work, then, a day later, went to Thangana to meet the woman. He was intercepted by her relatives, and according to the victim’s father, the woman’s son and brother‑in‑law held him down. They tied his hands and feet with a rope and beat him with sticks and clubs.
Police found Ranjeetji’s body on an iron cot beneath a tamarind tree, wrapped in a blanket‑like sack. A post‑mortem revealed severe bruising on his back, neck and knees, confirming a brutal beating. He had lost consciousness during the assault and died of his injuries.
Chaturji Badsangji Thakor, Ranjeetji’s father, rushed to Thangana with his uncle and other relatives after learning of the incident. Police took custody of the body and registered a formal complaint. The complaint names four accused: Hansaben Jagaji Thakor, Hiteshji Jagaji Thakor, Bhemaji Ranchhodji Thakor, and Ramaji Keshaji Thakor.
The Kheralu police are investigating the case, and the four suspects are charged in the local court. A post‑mortem has been conducted, and the investigation is underway. The next hearing is scheduled for the end of the month.
