Brookfield said Thursday it will pour up to $600 million into ACME Cleantech Ventures, backing the company’s green ammonia and methanol plants in India and Oman.
ACME, a UK‑based subsidiary of ACME Group, has secured offtake agreements with Yara International, IHI Corporation, Mitsubishi Gas Chemicals, Solar Energy Corporation of India, IFFCO, Paradeep Phosphates, Coromandel International and Indorama India.
The National Green Hydrogen Mission, launched by the Indian government, aims to make the country a global hub for green hydrogen, ammonia and methanol production, use and export.
Brookfield’s Global Transition Fund, through which the investment will flow, already underwrites nearly 50GW of wind and solar assets in India, underscoring the firm’s commitment to decarbonisation.
The funding will accelerate the rollout of ACME’s green ammonia and methanol plants, helping India meet its National Green Hydrogen Mission targets and potentially attracting further foreign investment.
