At the Parade Ground in Ekta Nagar, a suburb of Ahmedabad, the Prime Minister spoke to a crowd of more than 50,000 supporters on May 28, 2026. The rally coincided with the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a figure Modi repeatedly cited as a unifying icon.
Modi slammed the opposition, labeling them an 'Avrodh Paksh' – an obstructive force. He argued that the opposition’s agenda had shifted from constructive dissent to obstruction. In a pointed allusion to Rahul Gandhi’s recent overseas visits, Modi asked, "Who is secretly meeting whom in foreign countries? Who is extending support to India’s enemies?" The Prime Minister warned that such foreign contacts could undermine national security.
Modi also condemned the use of social media to spread rumours and tarnish India’s image. He reiterated his pledge to root out Naxalism, noting that while Maoist activity had been largely quelled, "dimagi Naxals" still pose a threat. He outlined a new security blueprint that includes tightening border controls and curbing infiltration.
No opposition spokesperson issued a statement in response to Modi’s accusations.
Modi closed by invoking Patel’s legacy, urging the nation to follow the path of unity he championed. He announced plans to move toward a secular civil code and to promote the 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat' and 'Vikshit Bharat' initiatives. The government will reportedly launch a review of border security protocols in the coming weeks.
