On Wednesday, Emmanuel Macron slammed Donald Trump for attributing France's recent nationwide turmoil to Muslim migrants, calling the remarks "completely false".
The demonstrations, which drew between 550,000 and 800,000 participants across the country, began as student protests over teacher shortages and expanded into a broader backlash against rising living costs and public services.
Trump, speaking from Washington, urged Macron to "close your borders" and warned that Europe would lose if it didn't curb immigration, claiming the country would soon become a "Muslim city".
Macron dismissed the comments as foreign manipulation of information, noting AI‑generated images had fueled false narratives, and ordered the Foreign Office to provide clarifications; meanwhile, he announced a 100,000‑ton monthly diesel deal with Bahrain to be finalized shortly.
