JK Tyre just announced four new off-the-road (OTR) tyre solutions at BAUMA CONEXPO INDIA 2026 in Greater Noida, specifically engineered to keep your equipment moving on the rough, jagged terrain typical of Indian job sites. These aren't generic imports; they’re built for the local reality of high dust, heavy loads, and uneven surfaces.
The lineup splits into two distinct categories. For construction and material handling, you’ve got the MPT 45 and MPT117 patterns. The 12.5/80-18 MPT 45 (16PR TL) and two variants of the MPT117—16/70-20 (14PR TL) and 18-19.5 (18PR TL)—are aimed at SLCMs, backhoe loaders, and telehandlers. JK claims the tread geometry here is tweaked for even wear and better traction on mixed terrain, which directly translates to fewer replacements mid-project.
Then there’s the heavy hitter: the 12.00R20 JDO XD OTR (22PR 156/153F TT). This one is strictly for mining tippers. It features a reinforced casing and heavy-duty construction designed to shrug off the cuts, chips, and abrasion that shred standard tyres in quarries and mines. If your tipper is hauling low-grade ore or overburden, this is the tyre they want you on.
Why the focus? According to Srinivasu Allaphan, Director of Sales & Marketing at JK Tyre, the goal is simple: application-specific performance. He noted that Indian operating conditions demand tyres that prioritize load-carrying capability and service life over everything else. By targeting these specific use cases, JK is trying to lock in OEM connectivity and push into higher-value segments where performance is non-negotiable.
For buyers, this means more options from a domestic player who understands the local grind. The launch signals JK’s push to expand its OTR footprint beyond just standard construction into specialized industrial applications.
