Renault's 8 Gordini concept, a 270‑hp electric coupe, made its debut at the Carwalk event in Paris. It’s a one‑off study, not aimed at production, but it signals the marque’s interest in high‑output EVs.
The 4.12‑metre long, 1.88‑metre wide, 1.27‑metre tall coupe is lower and wider than the 1964 four‑door. Its styling pays homage to the original with a blue paint, twin white stripes, and round headlights, but the front is stripped of a grille for a cleaner look.
Inside, the cabin is stripped down to essentials. A digital dash with round displays, bucket seats, and a stopwatch‑style control give it a racing vibe. Alcantara, brushed aluminium and blue corduroy keep the feel premium yet simple.
The motor packs 270 hp, all rear‑mounted, echoing the original’s rear‑wheel drive layout. Renault hasn’t revealed battery size, range or acceleration, but the power output alone puts it in the same league as the Tesla Model 3 Performance and Porsche Taycan.
The concept will stay on display at the 2026 Paris Motor Show from October 12‑18 and will later join Renault’s heritage collection in Flins. While buyers won’t see a 8 Gordini on the road, the exercise shows the brand’s willingness to explore electrified performance, a direction many customers are watching.
