A double‑decker coach overturned after striking a truck near the M5 motorway junction between Bursa and Izmir, killing 11 passengers and injuring 27 others on Sunday. The wreck lay across safety barriers, its windscreen shattered, as photos by DHA showed.
Interior Minister Mustafa Ciftci posted on X that police were coordinating with emergency services and monitoring the situation closely.
Both the coach and truck drivers have been detained as part of a probe, with reports suggesting the tow truck may have driven on the wrong side of the road; their health conditions remain undisclosed.
Investigators will review CCTV footage and traffic data to determine the fault; no court date has been set yet, but the families of the 11 deceased are already seeking answers.
