Ola Electric's S1 X+ 5.2 kWh electric scooter has received certification from the International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT), Manesar, under the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989. The certified model is positioned as the longest-range offering in the company's mass-market scooter portfolio, delivering an IDC-certified range of 320 km and a top speed of 125 km/h.
The scooter uses Ola Electric's indigenously developed 4680 Bharat Cell technology, which offers higher energy density and improved thermal capabilities.
According to an Ola Electric spokesperson, the government certification of the S1 X+ 5.2 kWh is a milestone as the company brings its in-house developed 4680 Bharat Cell technology to the mass market at scale.
The certification followed a validation programme covering vehicle safety, performance, and regulatory compliance tests mandated under CMVR norms. The company will continue its vertically integrated manufacturing approach, covering cell development, battery pack engineering, and vehicle production. The ICAT certification is expected to pave the way for the broader rollout of the battery technology across Ola Electric's scooter and motorcycle portfolio.
