A Fort Worth mother told a court her son was treated like a human rag doll by a daycare teacher who allegedly grabbed and shook the four-year-old before dragging him toward her own child. The Harris family, represented by attorney Russell Button, filed the suit on September 4 against Arka Montessori Academy of Risinger, claiming the center turned its classrooms into a 'child fight club.'
The incident occurred on April 27. Video evidence cited in the complaint shows teacher Chynia Johnson swiping at the boy's leg while holding his wrist. The force lifted both of his feet off the floor before he crashed down. Heather Harris said she knew something was wrong the moment she saw her son's face at pickup. "I needed to see the cameras," she said.
The boy, identified as UH, suffered bruises, scratches, headaches, and back pain. Since the attack, he has become anxious and clingy and stopped attending daycare. Richard Harris described himself as mortified while watching the footage. According to employee statements in the complaint, Johnson had a history of yelling at and aggressively handling children prior to the April incident.
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission's Child-Care Licensing Division conducted an independent investigation. The agency cited Arka Montessori for failing to ensure caregivers protected children and for using prohibited discipline methods, including grabbing, pulling, yelling, and physical restraint. The center faces regulatory penalties for these violations.
