Ficci announced on Thursday that Sanmar Group chairman Vijay Sankar will serve as its next president, taking over from Anant Goenka after the May annual general meeting.
The Federation, which represents over 5,000 companies across India, has been led by Goenka since 2018, a period marked by a push for digital exports.
Sankar, whose conglomerate spans cement, infrastructure and real‑estate, has previously chaired the Indian Construction Council and led several public‑private partnerships.
Sankar told a press briefing that he would focus on expanding trade ties with Southeast Asia, citing the region’s growing appetite for Indian industrial goods.
Anant Goenka, in a statement, thanked the federation for his tenure and pledged to support Sankar in the transition.
The transition will be formalised at the AGM in May, when members will ratify Sankar’s appointment.
