BSE shares surged 9.8% on Tuesday as SEBI unveiled changes to the closing auction session, hinting at a potential rebound in derivatives trading volumes.
The exchange’s average daily options turnover had dipped to under ₹20,000 crore, down from a peak of ₹30,000 crore earlier this year, before registering modest upticks in September.
According to Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, the recent correction in BSE’s valuation has sharpened its risk‑reward profile relative to NSE; the exchange is now seen as a top pick for investors seeking derivatives exposure.
In the IT sector, Persistent Systems reported 7.8% QoQ revenue growth, driven purely by organic expansion, but acquisition‑related costs are weighing on margins; the company trades at roughly 35× FY28 estimated earnings.
Looking ahead, BSE is expected to capture greater market share in derivatives, potentially surpassing NSE; traders anticipate a volume rise as the new CAS rules take effect, positioning the exchange for sustained growth.
