According to a constable’s recorded statement, a woman accompanied two men when they brought Disha Salian into Shatabdi Hospital on the night of June 8, 2020—an admission that contradicts earlier accounts listing only two men. The woman’s identity remains unknown, and investigators are still trying to secure CCTV footage from the hospital’s premises.
The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a murder case on Monday, charging Shiv Sena MLA Aaditya Thackeray and others, including actors Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi and Rhea Chakraborty, with alleged involvement in Salian’s death. The FIR alleges that Thackeray and the others colluded in a conspiracy to cover up the incident and that police officials destroyed evidence. Doctors and hospital staff are also named as subjects of scrutiny.
The probe was ordered by the Bombay High Court on September 2 after Salian’s father, Satish Salian, filed a petition alleging police negligence and a cover‑up. The court found that the police had failed to register an FIR for six years and had withheld the post‑mortem report. Satish Salian’s testimony before the CBI last week highlighted the alleged role of Uddhav Thackeray, his father, in the alleged conspiracy.
With the FIR in place, the CBI will now interrogate Thackeray and the other named suspects, review all hospital records and police files, and assemble a case for the court. The investigation is expected to close by the end of the month, after which the court may summon the accused to answer the charges.
