The Central Bureau of Investigation filed a murder and conspiracy FIR on Monday in Mumbai, naming Aaditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Rhea Chakraborty, and several doctors as persons whose roles require investigation. But it follows a Bombay High Court order that police had failed to register an FIR for six years after Disha Salian’s death in 2020.
The FIR alleges Thackeray and others orchestrated a cover‑up of Salian’s fall from a 14‑floor apartment, which police had earlier ruled a suicide. And it accuses former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other officials of destroying evidence and filing false reports.
Satish Salian, Salian’s father, petitioned the High Court last year, alleging his daughter was gang‑raped and murdered. The court’s directive compels the police to provide the post‑mortem report, the Accidental Death Report and all related documents that had been withheld for six years.
Thackeray’s X post, titled ‘Never Met,’ came two days after the FIR was registered. He slammed the naming as a deliberate character‑assassination attempt by political rivals. The Bombay High Court has set a hearing for June 15 to scrutinize the evidence and police conduct.
