India’s External Affairs Ministry slammed the arrest of 19‑year‑old Alexandros Paporakis in Palatine, Illinois, for plotting a mass shooting at a Hindu temple.
The teenager, a Taco Bell cashier, had circulated a manifesto that fused white‑supremacist rhetoric with explicit calls to violence against people of Indian descent.
U.S. authorities recovered the document during a raid, noting it contained images of rifles, magazines and body armour, and that the suspect had warned co‑workers that "Sunday would be a special day".
The arrest followed a tip from a fellow employee who reported Paporakis to police after he claimed his gun jammed and fled the shop.
Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the incident underscores a surge of anti‑India hate in the United States and called for zero tolerance of hate‑motivated violence.
Jaiswal urged U.S. agencies to launch a full investigation and bring those responsible to justice, while India pledged to monitor the case closely.
