The Indian Express report revealed that Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi had lodged 14 formal objections over the last ten months to decisions made during the Special Intensive Revision of voter rolls.
Those objections cited deletion of names and other irregularities across multiple states, triggering a wave of political controversy.
In response, the Election Commission spokesperson said the commission would review the findings before making any changes to voter lists, stressing that all SIR decisions were taken unanimously.
Meanwhile, the TMC’s internal dispute over its party symbol has led the EC to freeze the use of "All India Trinamool Congress" and assign interim identities to the two factions contesting the October 6 bypolls.
The CEC has scheduled a special council meeting for Friday, during which it will decide whether to adopt the pre‑SIR voter list and address the allegations.
