The five victims—Mahesh Kumar, his wife Lalita, their 7‑year‑old daughter Mishti, and sons Laddu (11) and Sakshat (3)—were found dead in a single room of their Nagla Shri Padam house at about 8 a.m. on 16 October. The family had left for a local fair Friday night, returning at 10 p.m., and allegedly ate noodles for dinner before the bodies were discovered.
Police say the noodles were laced with a toxic substance. An audio file recovered from Mahesh’s phone contains him accusing his sisters and brother‑in‑law of being responsible for the deaths. Those relatives have been taken into custody by the Greater Noida police.
Food Safety Officer OP Singh, who inspected the scene, ruled it a case of intentional poisoning, not accidental food contamination. He noted that no expired food items were found and that a child’s mouth had foam, a symptom uncommon in food poisoning.
The alleged motive is a long‑standing dispute over the division of family property, according to Neeraj, Mahesh’s sister‑in‑law. She alleges she was evicted after her husband’s death and that Mahesh had promised the family would someday live together again.
Forensic teams are collecting evidence and the post‑mortem will be completed by mid‑week. The family’s property case is scheduled to be heard by the Nagla Shri Padam family court on 24 October, where the court will decide the allocation of assets.
