If you’re eyeing a Maruti Suzuki Dzire but feel the standard sedan feels out of reach, Tata’s new Aeris, priced between ₹5.29 lakh and ₹9.74 lakh, offers a lower‑priced alternative.
The sedan market in India sells about 3.5 lakh units a year, with 80‑85% of that coming from the entry‑level segment that includes the Dzire, Honda Amaze and the new Baleno and i20 hatchbacks.
Replacing the Tigor, the Aeris targets the 65% of entry‑sedan buyers who use cars for personal commuting. Tata says the model will not be sold to fleet operators, leaving that segment for the Tigor Xpress.
The Aeris will hit showrooms in June 2024, starting in Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru, with plans to expand to other metros in the following months. Keep an eye on the upcoming CNG version, which could shift the price dynamics.
