Since its first shipment in August 2025, the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has crossed 50,000 units worldwide. That tally puts the compact SUV among the most dispatched Indian EVs in the past 18 months.
India’s electric passenger vehicle exports are dominated by the e Vitara, which accounted for nearly 93 percent of the country’s EV shipments between April and September 2026, according to SIAM data. The figure shows how the model has become the face of Indian EV exports.
The e Vitara’s birthplace is the Hansalpur plant in Gujarat, a single‑site facility that now pushes out a million cars a year. Maruti Suzuki poured ₹25,288.7 crore into the expansion, making the plant the only Suzuki site to hit that capacity.
On the road, the e Vitara sits beside rivals like Tata Nexon EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV. While the latter offer higher power or longer range, the Vitara’s 300 km range on a single charge and a price around ₹15 lakh puts it in a sweet spot for budget‑savvy buyers.
For buyers eyeing the model, availability is already established in the UK, Norway, Germany, Japan and Switzerland. European markets have been the priority, but Maruti Suzuki plans to roll the e Vitara into other European and Asian hubs next quarter.
The next milestone is the formal launch in India slated for October 2026, with city‑wise rollout starting in Mumbai and Delhi. Keep an eye on charging infrastructure updates and the company’s plans to offer a 6‑month free battery warranty, which could sway final purchase decisions.
