If you’re eyeing a Mercedes in India, the latest sales spike shows that buyers still chase the long‑wheelbase E‑Class and the brand’s new electrified offerings.
In the third quarter alone, Mercedes-Benz India sold 5,422 cars, up 6% from 5,119 units in the same period last year, and 17% higher than the second quarter of this year. The 15,190 units sold from January to September marked an 8% jump over 14,132 in 2025, setting a company record for the first nine months of 2026.
The Core Luxury segment—where the C‑Class, long‑wheelbase E‑Class, GLC and GLE sit—contributed roughly 60% of total sales, with the long‑wheelbase E‑Class remaining the best‑seller across the brand. Top‑end luxury, including the S‑Class, GLS, Maybach, AMG G 63 and V‑Class, grew 13% YoY and made up over a quarter of overall sales. Mercedes’ Manufaktur personalization program was the engine behind about 75% of top‑end sales, while the AMG portfolio alone saw an 18% rise, and the EQS Maybach SUV posted a staggering 68% jump.
Electric‑vehicle demand kept pace with the luxury push, with the brand’s EV portfolio expanding 16% over the first nine months of 2026. The new CLA BEV already secured more than 1,000 confirmed orders, with deliveries expected to roll out until March 2027. Other electrified models—EQ S SUV, EQ S Maybach SUV and the G 580—continued to attract buyers in the high‑end segment, reflecting the broader Indian push for cleaner mobility.
Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz India is set to roll out two key electrified launches: the S‑Class will begin deliveries in mid‑October, followed by the GLC BEV on 4 November 2026. Demand for the new S‑Class has already spurred a sell‑out of the top‑spec Manufaktur Edition for the year, with only a handful of Exclusive Line units left. These releases should keep the brand in the spotlight as it closes 2026 on record sales.
For buyers, the current market signals a healthy competition among luxury marques—BMW, Audi, and the rising electric premium segment—while Mercedes‑Benz continues to leverage personalization and electrification to attract a broad customer base. Keep an eye on price points, upcoming launch dates, and the expanding EV lineup to make the most informed choice.
