Priya Sharma and gym trainer Pratap Singh were booked on Oct 26 after CCTV footage from the Jagriti Resident Welfare Association in Ghaziabad showed Sharma leaving the flat at 5:17 am, followed minutes later by Singh running to the building and stabbing her husband 12 times while he slept.
Neighbors heard screams and a child’s cries, rushed to the top floor, and found Shashank in a critical state; Singh fled at 5:23 am but was apprehended later that day by residents armed with a security guard.
The pair allegedly conspired after Sharma began visiting Singh’s gym, Fitness Headquarters, and reportedly discussed marrying; Singh admitted the plan during interrogation.
Police say Sharma left the society gate unlocked, allowing Singh’s entry, and that their second marriage had stirred no visible conflict, according to Ritesh Kanthariya, Shashank’s brother.
Shashank, a former Jhansi native with a government job, suffered 12 stab wounds, including a knife that penetrated his chest, and was rushed to a hospital where doctors fear he may not survive.
Both defendants face murder charges and are scheduled to appear before the Ghaziabad Sessions Court on December 15, where a trial will be set.
