Six bullets struck a parked car and a neighboring house in A-Block, Lok Vihar, around 5 a.m. Wednesday, targeting the residence of Sahil Jain, a Dubai-based businessman known locally as 'Google.' No one was injured, but the attack has triggered a fresh wave of gang-related violence in northwest Delhi. A viral audio clip claiming responsibility for the shooting has circulated on social media, attributed to a speaker identifying himself as Rahul Fatehpur from the Gilli Rana faction of the Rohit Godara gang.
The audio, whose authenticity remains unverified, explicitly states that Jain was spared death only because the intent was to issue a warning. The speaker threatens to shoot Jain in the chest if he continues supporting the gang's rivals, citing Jain's family as leverage. Police have not officially confirmed the claim, but Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northwest) Akansha Yadav told reporters that investigators are treating the incident as a potential inter-gang conflict.
Yadav noted that Jain had received a threat from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in 2021, leading to a case being registered at the Special Cell in 2023. "There was no fresh threat after that," Yadav said, emphasizing that no group has officially claimed responsibility through police channels yet. However, she confirmed that police are actively probing the Lawrence Bishnoi gang's alleged involvement, adding that the motive could also be tied to extortion attempts aimed at intimidating Jain.
CCTV footage from the scene shows two men arriving on a motorcycle; the rider wore a helmet, while the pillion passenger covered his face with a cloth before stepping off to fire the weapon. The Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) recovered one live cartridge and two empty cases from the site. Police teams are currently analyzing entry and exit points from surrounding areas to identify the suspects, with no arrests made yet.
