The assault unfolded in a park between Kalkaji Mandir and the ISKCON Temple, a spot usually frequented by devotees.
The victim, a 17‑year‑old Delhi resident, had visited the temple with a male friend at 7 pm before heading to the park at 7:30 pm. Three men, each estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old, approached the pair and claimed to be police officers. They threatened the girl and her friend, then gang‑raped the girl before fleeing the scene.
A call reporting the assault reached the police at 8:45 pm, prompting a rapid response. The victim was transported to a hospital for a medical examination and a formal statement was taken.
Police are scrutinizing CCTV footage from the park and surrounding areas to identify the suspects and corroborate the victim’s account. Witnesses are being canvassed for any additional information about the attackers or other park occupants.
The case has been registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, and authorities are actively pursuing the suspects. A court hearing is scheduled for next month to determine the next phase of the investigation.
