EFI riders barred from international competitions, 0 chances to compete.
The International Equestrian Federation slapped the ban on October 15, after a board meeting that felt more like a courtroom drama than a sports meeting.
The crisis dates back to the Delhi High Court's dissolution of the EFI executive committee in February 2026, leaving the federation in a leadership vacuum that has lasted longer than a cricket season.
Even the ad‑hoc committee set up by the Indian Olympic Association on March 27 couldn't flip the switch, as FEI demands elections by January 31, 2027. Until those ballots are counted, the riders will be stuck out of the international arena, missing qualifiers and the chance to rack up world rankings.
With the ban taking effect before the election deadline, the future of Indian equestrianism hangs in the balance. The next big test will be the FEI review, but meanwhile, riders are left training in isolation, hoping for a quick fix.
The federation must hold elections soon, or the riders' international dreams stall.
