At 10:02 AM, he allegedly sent a Slack message to his manager stating his wife, 'Athi,' was not feeling well and he would take the day off. Colleagues told the family they had no idea who 'Athi' was. By 10:22 AM, emergency services were called to his Pao Alto apartment. The Palo Alto Police Department treated the scene as a medical emergency, not a suspicious death, and stated that neither they nor the medical examiner have found evidence of foul play.
But the medical timeline presents a glaring contradiction. Sister Saah Al-Hussaini revealed that initial hospital scans suggested Al-Hussaini had been without oxygen for nearly 30 to 60 minutes. Al-Hussaini, a Bangladesh-born researcher who earned his PhD from the Georgia Institute of Technology, joined NVIDIA as a Senior Data Scientist in August 2023. He married Fabia Farlin Athena at Georgia Tech in 2022. The family alleges the couple's relationship was strained, with friends reporting that Al-Hussaini was cut off from his support network.
