On Saturday, deputies seized 68‑year‑old Marilyn Therrell at her Kissimmee residence after a 911 call reported a suspected overdose. The police report confirmed that Therrell had given her 32‑ and 30‑year‑old sons, both diagnosed with severe autism, a lethal dose of medication.
Both men were rushed to a local hospital and are still receiving intensive care, with doctors projecting a recovery timeline that could span several weeks. The Osceola County Sheriff’s Department said the patients are expected to be discharged before the end of the month.
Therrell told detectives on September 17 that the responsibility of caring for the boys had become unbearable after her husband died last year. In her confession, she admitted she intended to kill them by administering the overdose.
She faces two counts each of attempted first‑degree murder and aggravated abuse of a disabled adult. Once the boys leave the hospital, the sheriff’s office will arrange for them to be placed in state care. The case is set to be reviewed by the district attorney’s office next week.
