Delhi Capitals have hired former Sri Lanka legend Chaminda Vaas as their fast bowling coach for the 2027 IPL season.
Vaas, who once racked up 355 Test wickets and 400 ODI dismissals, brings a wealth of experience from stints with the Sri Lankan, New Zealand and Irish bowling units. He also has a taste of IPL life, having taken 18 wickets in 13 matches for Deccan Chargers between 2008 and 2010.
The move comes as Sourav Ganguly, now the head coach, is reshaping the backroom crew. Yuvraj Singh has joined as assistant and batting coach, while former India pacer Munaf Patel steps aside. Delhi's recent roster shuffle saw T Natarajan return to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a revised fee of ₹5 crore, while Zeeshan Ansari heads the opposite way. Rishabh Pant also came back from Lucknow Super Giants, swapping places with Kuldeep Yadav.
With the coaching overhaul in place, the Caps are looking to cement their position at the top of the league. Their first match of the 2027 campaign is slated for early April, where they will face the Rajasthan Royals.
