Blue Star, Godrej, Haier, Daikin and Super Plastronics have each raised their product price tags, effective Oct 1 2026. Air conditioners will see a 5‑8% jump, while washers, fridges and LED TVs climb 3‑4%.
But the drivers are more than a mere seasonal bump. Copper, aluminium, steel and crude‑oil derivatives have surged, and freight rates have spiked amid the West Asia crisis. Blue Star’s managing director said commodity prices have been on a relentless climb—making the third hike of the year unavoidable.
Haier plans a 5% jump for room ACs from Oct 1, with possible further hikes in December and January if costs remain high. The company also flagged 2‑3% rises for TVs and washing machines. Haier president NS Satish noted copper prices hit $14,500, up from last year’s ₹8,000‑9,000.
Yet the festive rush from Onam to Diwali, which accounts for 30‑40% of annual sales, could see consumers buying at outdated prices. Dealers stocked inventory before the hikes, so Diwali sales may stay at old rates, but post‑Diwali will reflect the new prices.
Industry insiders warn that cumulative price rises could reach 15% by January, squeezing household budgets. The next step? Companies are poised to roll out additional adjustments in December, while regulators may eye consumer protection amid the surge.
