Trump’s X post on Saturday mirrored his Dallas convention remarks, where he dubbed the proposed adult dividend a ‘Trump dividend’.
The president cited tariff receipts and a buoyant economy as the funding backbone, yet no detailed financing blueprint has surfaced. Economists peg the cost at roughly $1 trillion, a figure that has rattled budget analysts.
Alongside the dividend, Trump announced a $90 Medicare Part B premium payment for over 20 million seniors, a measure the White House spokesperson said is designed to offset part of the 2026 monthly premium of $202.90.
The dividend would touch more than 200 million adults, potentially making it the largest single‑time cash transfer in U.S. history and prompting calls from watchdog groups for a fiscal audit before any legislative move.
Lawmakers will need to pass a bill authorizing the transfer, with Senate and House committees slated to hold hearings in the coming weeks. Should legislation clear both houses, the Treasury would prepare the checks for late 2027.
