Sameer Khan, 22, opened his banking app on Wednesday to recharge his phone and saw a zero balance. He then noticed a lien of over Rs 10,000 crore had been imposed on the account.
Khan works at Nirmal Medical Point near Salasar bus stand and earns Rs 10,000 a month. He told an employee of his employer, Dheeraj Sharma, that the lien was shocking, a first for him.
After reporting to the Sikar cyber police station, Khan was advised to contact his bank. The bank confirmed the issue stemmed from a technical glitch that mistakenly flagged a massive lien.
Bank officials resolved the error and reinstated Khan's actual balance of Rs 55,000. Khan expressed relief, saying the glitch was “a technical mistake” that has now been corrected.
The incident has prompted the bank to audit its systems to prevent future glitches that could lock legitimate customers. No further action is expected beyond the audit.
