Three Keralites died in a blaze at a residential building in Bochum, Germany, last week, and their bodies were flown into Cochin International Airport on Friday.
Sivin Johny (26) of Kalady, Nova Sabu (25) of Kattappana, and Anjali Sheela Joy (27) of Chemmakkad were among the deceased, according to CIAL.
Johny’s corpse arrived early Friday, was formally processed at the airport, and then transported to Aluva for burial at St. Rocky’s Church in Manickamangalam. Joy’s body followed a similar route, while Sabu’s was delivered later that evening.
The state government, through NORKA Roots, arranged the repatriation, with Chief Minister V. D. Satheesan announcing that the expense would be borne by the state.
Families in the three districts received the bodies and held prayers before the final rites.
