Jio Platforms’ anchor book has exploded to ₹2.5 lakh crore, 30 times the ₹30.213 lakh crore the company aims to raise – a record multiplier for any Indian IPO. The subscription window opens on Wednesday, Oct 21, and the book will be disclosed later in the day.
The ₹8,110 crore of demand already in place exceeds the target 30×, meaning every rupee of the planned raise is being bid for more than thirty times. This level of interest eclipses the next best IPO anchor book, which hovered around ₹4.5 lakh crore.
Key bidders include global giants BlackRock, Fidelity, and JPMorgan Asset Management, while sovereign wealth funds such as GIC, ADIA, QIA and Norge Bank Investment Management have each placed bids between $750 million and $1 billion. Domestic mutual funds – SBI MF, ICICI Prudential MF, HDFC MF, Aditya Birla Sun Life MF and Nippon India MF – dominate the top‑10 list, each securing ₹400–₹450 crore.
The 30× demand multiplier is unprecedented; most Indian IPOs see anchor books at 5–10× the planned raise, reflecting a robust appetite for Jio’s growth story. Analysts note that such a high anchor book often translates into strong main‑book participation and a first‑day rally, but the final listing price will dictate the actual upside.
The IPO will price on Oct 21, with the company expected to set a price band before the listing. Market watchers will watch closely for whether the 30× demand sustains through the main book, as that will shape the company’s valuation and investor sentiment in the days that follow.
