Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak called the incident a "shameful breach of medical ethics" and directed the CMO to assemble a team for a formal inquiry, while Congress MP Ramesh Yadav slammed the BJP government, alleging caste‑based discrimination against the Musahar community.
The woman, who belongs to the Musahar community—a marginalized Dalit group—has said she was told, "Musahar ho… nahi karayenge delivery," forcing her to give birth on the dusty road; her husband, who had to wait for hours, now fears the baby’s survival.
The health department’s inquiry is due to submit its report to the state government by October 15, after which legal action may be pursued against the implicated medical staff.
