Bihar Minister Shrawon Kumar dismissed the video of three men assaulting a 15‑year‑old boy and molesting his 14‑year‑old female friend on a road outside Jamui as an isolated event. The clip, shared on social media last week, shows the boys attempting to separate the girl from the boy before groping her.
Three suspects, two of whom are minors, were taken into custody by police. Authorities registered cases under the POCSO Act and the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, and the investigation is now in progress.
Opposition voices have exploded. Former Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary’s rival Tejashwi Yadav slammed the incident as proof of “Jungle Raj” in Bihar, while Congress leader Rahul Gandhi called the act “deeply disturbing” and accused the state of systemic patriarchy.
Kumar assured that the government would conduct a thorough probe and take strict action. He said the state remains vigilant and that “strict action will be taken against all culprits.”
If concrete steps are not seen, opposition parties have pledged a hunger strike and protest march. Tej Pratap Yadav, JJD national president, warned that the Chief Minister must answer for the failure to protect women and girls.
