Pakistani Army signed a drone procurement agreement with US firm Powerus, co‑founder Brett Velicovich, on Wednesday. The deal, announced in a press briefing at the army headquarters, covers an initial unmanned aerial systems order and outlines a joint tech partnership that pairs US and Pakistani capabilities.
Powerus is in the process of merging with Aureus Greenway Holdings, a publicly traded company that Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump own through an investment vehicle called American Ventures. The merger, expected to close in early October, will bring the two firms together under a single corporate umbrella, potentially expanding Powerus’s reach in the defense market.
Field Marshal Asim Munir met a Powerus delegation led by Velicovich to discuss procurement, production and long‑term capacity building. The meeting came a few months after Washington approved a $686 million arms package for Pakistan’s F‑16 fleet, which included Link‑16 systems and training support—an indicator that U.S. policy toward Pakistani defense procurement is easing.
The contract also includes a $22.3 million counter‑drone package aimed at safeguarding oil and gas infrastructure in the Middle East. With the merger slated for early October, the two companies are expected to finalize the terms of the partnership and begin deploying the new systems later in the year.
