The Congress party's Instagram feed lit up on Tuesday with a 13‑second reel that cast Rahul Gandhi as a caped crusader. Gandhi is shown atop yellow police barricades, wearing his usual white polo and khaki, surrounded by a cheering crowd that almost dismantles the barricades.
The reel cuts to a silhouette of Batman perched on a dark skyscraper, intercut with Gandhi's image, delivering a message that the opposition now has its own guardian.
The comparison is not new; earlier this year, posters branding Gandhi as the "real‑life Batman" appeared at Indira Bhawan and in central Delhi, labeling him as a "Silent Guardian".
The footage was released hours after police detained Gandhi and his sister Priyanka during a sit‑in at Akashwani Bhawan, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Both were taken to Kingsway Camp Police Station and released at 10 pm, leaving Congress to deploy the Batman imagery in its campaign ahead of the general elections.
