Brink’s workers servicing the Bank of America ATM in West Main Street left two bags behind, one of which contained $128,514, according to police reports.
Khan, who was $100 short on rent and arguing with his landlord at Walmart, spotted the bags, called Officer J. Nazario, and told him he was scared, as recorded on body‑camera footage.
Nazario and Deputy Gina Miller counted the cash, confirming the receipt listed exactly $128,514, and the money was placed in the department’s property room.
Khan, who has a felony record, explained that he was reluctant to accept the money, choosing instead to return it to the authorities.
Bank of America thanked Khan for his honesty but declined to disclose any reward, while local officials praised his integrity and the case remains under investigation.
