At Delhi's ITO intersection, the Congress OBC wing put up brightly lit "Gyanesh Hatao, Chunav Aayog Bachao" posters on Friday morning, urging citizens to remove the CEC from office.
The Indian Youth Congress petition titled "Gyanesh, It’s Done Bro" calls for Kumar’s arrest and a comprehensive investigation into the electoral process, while demanding the public release of internal objections and electoral records.
In the Kolhapur Bench of the Bombay High Court, petitioners Prathamesh Gopal Gavankar, Gaurav Suryakant Nakharekar, Aadesh Shashikant Bhatkar and Smitali Nilesh Narvekar argue that 14 unilateral administrative orders issued by the Election Commission should be revoked, the SIR process in Maharashtra halted, and voters removed from the rolls reinstated.
BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari dismissed Gandhi’s remarks as a "damp squib", claiming the opposition leader could not win public support through democratic means and labeled the Congress "frustrated".
The Bombay High Court is set to hear the petition in the next few weeks, while the Congress plans to mobilise youth nationwide to support the case and push for electoral transparency.
