Shares of Himadri Specialty Chemicals, listed on the NSE and BSE, slid 6.5% to ₹617.85 on Monday after the company reported a 28.9% jump in profit after tax to ₹240 crore, but a 140‑basis‑point drop in operating margin to 20.7% from 22.1%.
Revenue rose 44.2% to ₹1,543 crore, up from ₹1,070 crore a year earlier, while EBITDA climbed 34.7% to ₹320 crore from ₹237 crore. The company also reported a 9.3% increase in volumes, reaching 1.46 lakh MT.
Analysts had been penciling in a 25% profit growth; the 28.9% beat nudges the consensus, yet the margin squeeze has dampened market sentiment. The sector average margin sits at 23.5%, leaving Himadri trailing.
CMD & CEO Anurag Choudhary said the shift toward high‑value‑add products and the Birla Tyres merger would underpin future profitability. He highlighted an optimized product mix and a growing specialty portfolio.
Looking ahead, the company plans to accelerate commercialization of advanced materials, expand its global footprint and tap emerging technologies. Investors will watch the next quarter's guidance, slated for December.
