Police said the complaint was filed by Harish's father, who claimed Samuel had tried to extort ₹1 lakh from the influencer and spread false statements about his credentials.
Samuel's October 18 clip questioned Harish's SEBI and AMFI registrations, and was followed by a barrage of harassing comments that the father said pushed him to suicide.
The case was registered under Section 108 of the BNS, which covers abetment of suicide, and investigators gathered documents and witness statements that linked Samuel to the chain of events.
When interviewed by NDTV, Samuel denied any money demands, insisting he only highlighted alleged irregularities and that he ‘never intended anything further’.
The incident has split the influencer community; some post memes accusing Samuel of bullying, while others claim he's a whistleblower exposing fraud.
Samuel has been produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody. The court will hear his case next week, where the prosecution will lay out evidence that his remarks precipitated Harish's death.
