DRDO’s Quantum Key Distribution platform was rolled out on the live network at the Proof & Experimental Establishment in Chandipur, Odisha, this week.
The system lets two nodes share an encryption key via quantum photons, and any attempt to intercept those photons disturbs the signal, alerting the parties.
The platform was co‑developed by DRDO’s MCC cluster and private firm Taqbit Labs, which will produce the hardware.
While the trial did not reveal operational ranges or data rates, officials say it proves the concept for securing artillery telemetry, and a nationwide deployment is slated for early 2027.
