
36.66 crore ITC shares changed hands in the pre‑open block window on Thursday, October 8, averaging ₹257 per share and generating a transaction value of ₹9,437 crore.
The trade accounted for 2.9 % of ITC’s outstanding equity. No official buyer or seller names have emerged, but the top institutional holders remain unchanged: Goldman Sachs Trust II (2.06 %), GQG Partners Emerging Markets (1.06 %) and the Unit Trust of India (7.78 %).
Mutual funds still own 16.5 % of the company, while LIC holds 16.3 %. Retail investors, capped at ₹2 lakh, own 12.5 %.
The stock closed 1 % lower at ₹264 on Wednesday, a drop that brings its year‑to‑date performance down 27 % from the January opening.
But with pre‑open volume hitting a record ₹9,437 crore, traders will be watching the next earnings release on November 15 for any sign of a reversal.
