TCS said on Friday that the Trump administration’s suspension of the PERM program will not affect its workforce strategy or client engagements, citing that it filed only single‑digit PERM applications in the last two years.
The suspension, announced Thursday, bars eight IT firms – including TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Capgemini, Microsoft and Adobe – from filing for green cards, a move the U.S. said aims to protect American workers.
TCS, which has built a local workforce across 31 U.S. offices, plans to add 15,000 employees over the next five years, maintaining a campus‑recruitment focus and pledging compliance with any Department of Labor directives.
The Department of Labor will not accept new or pending PERM applications from the suspended companies, a decision that may force firms to rely more heavily on H‑1B visas and domestic talent pipelines while the U.S. government reviews the program’s future.
