Jon Bon Jovi closed two massive real estate deals on the same day in July 2020, exiting one Palm Beach property and immediately entering a far larger one. The rock star sold his custom-built home at 230 N. Ocean Blvd. for $19,847,000. Simultaneously, he closed on a sprawling Mediterranean-style mansion at 1075 N. Ocean Blvd. for $43 million, according to property records and reporting from The Real Deal.
The sold property was a five-bedroom, 5,000-square-foot Italian-style home that Bon Jovi and his wife, Dorothea Hurley, built from scratch after purchasing the land in 2018 for $10 million. They demolished the existing structure to construct the new residence, which featured oak and limestone floors, a library, and direct beach access. The buyer was a trust affiliated with Rob Posner, CEO of NewDay USA, per the Palm Beach Daily News. While the sale price was nearly double the initial land cost, the construction expenses would have significantly reduced the net profit.
The new estate is more than twice the size of the previous home. Built in 2007 by architect Thomas Kirchhoff, the 10,232-square-foot mansion includes seven bedrooms, a temperature-controlled wine cellar, and two oceanfront loggias. Bon Jovi paid $43 million for the property, which had originally been listed for $44.9 million.
This transaction positioned Bon Jovi in a unique spot in South Florida’s luxury market. Years later, an unidentified buyer began assembling a $250 million mega-estate near Mar-a-Lago, acquiring adjacent parcels including two 2.8-acre oceanfront lots formerly owned by William Lauder. Reports indicate the buyer approached Bon Jovi about selling his $43 million property. The singer declined, leaving his estate as a standalone island in the middle of the growing assemblage.
