NDTV World Summit 2026 opened today in New Delhi, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi taking the podium at 9 a.m. — the first of two days that will see a star‑studded roster of leaders, including Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and fintech pioneer Nikhil Kamath, converge under the theme “A World Between Orders.”
Modi kicked off the event with a 12‑minute address on India’s expanding global clout, saying the country is ready to shape digital, energy and trade policies that will counterbalance Western dominance. He urged multilateral cooperation to navigate the rapid tech shifts reshaping geopolitics.
Kamath, speaking from the sidelines, urged investors to look at Sri Lanka’s post‑pandemic recovery, noting the island’s GDP has rebounded 4% in the last quarter and that the country is attracting new foreign direct investment.
The summit’s agenda covers energy, aerospace, healthcare, travel and Sri Lanka’s economic revival, with sessions slated to start at 1 p.m. tomorrow. Participants will debate AI regulation, the future of supply chains and the role of emerging markets.
A Sri Lankan tech entrepreneur, Ramesh Poddar, said he hopes the summit will help secure ₹5 crore in foreign direct investment for his startup, which is developing low‑cost solar modules for rural households.
Summit officials confirmed that the next day will host a high‑level roundtable on AI ethics, set to conclude with a joint statement on multilateral cooperation and a roadmap for technology‑driven development.
