Russian forces struck the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences building in Kyiv on Sunday, killing three, including an Azerbaijani national. The attack also hit a gas station, communications infrastructure, and residential blocks, adding to the growing toll of the conflict.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy posted on X that Ukraine had targeted two defence plants in Russia’s Tula and Voronezh regions, as well as oil refineries in Krasnodar. He added hits on drone facilities in Kaluga and Oryol, which he said were used for “drone terror against Ukraine,” and a Black Sea target.
Ukraine also struck railway infrastructure in Bryansk, damaging a bridge and derailing nearly thirty carriages, the region’s acting governor reported. The damage disrupted cross‑border freight and highlighted the breadth of Ukraine’s retaliatory reach.
Zelenskyy said, “We are consistently using our long‑range capabilities to respond to Russian strikes,” and urged Moscow to halt the escalation. The comment comes amid a series of Ukrainian night‑time attacks that have continued into Monday morning.
The Kyiv strikes injured 28 people in Kharkiv, nine of whom were children, and damaged residential buildings in Sumy, Rivne, Kharkiv and Odesa. Critical infrastructure was also hit in Vinnytsia, Dnipro, Khmelnytskyi and Zaporizhzhia, according to Zelenskyy.
Ukraine has announced it will keep striking Russian military and oil sites, with further attacks scheduled for Monday night, while Moscow has yet to issue a formal response.
